CIC Snapshot: An Educator's View on Using OER

At the 2016 Content in Context (CIC) session OER and the New Blended Classroom, Dr. Alexis McGloin, Superintendent of the Upper Perkiomen School District in PA, talked about how her district makes instructional materials purchasing decisions. When considering OER materials versus products from traditional publishers, one key factor is the impact on the teachers. Dr. McGloin says her team talks about curriculum before they select any materials, but she also wants to make sure implementing a program won't place an undue burden on the teacher. In addition, she says even when using OER, she is spending money on staff development and support.
