How Blending OER and Proprietary Content Has Shifted the Power to the Curriculum

During the webinar Mapping the OER Landscape, Dr. Joseph South, Director of the Office of Educational Technology for the U.S. Department of Education; Dr. Alexis McGloin, Superintendent of the Upper Perkiomen School District (PA), which is a GoOpen Ambassador District; and Randy Wilhelm, a K-12 industry expert in OER and CEO co-founder of Knovation, talked about changes to purchasing and using learning resources. With the power shifting from the textbook to the curriculum, they said that teachers are constantly checking the content against the curriculum.The speakers recommended that publishers provides content in small bites so teachers can belnd content from different materials to suit their classroom needs. Never underestimate the amount of flexibility that teachers need with the content advised the panel.
