A View from the 2016 Frankfurt Book Fair

Every year, as part of the AAP PreK-12 Learning Group’s participation in the global educational resource community, we have a stand at the Frankfurt Book Fair (FBF) and collect intelligence on issues facing our counterparts around the world. Below, Jo-Ann McDevitt, Strategic Partnerships Executive, offers her observation on the 2016 FBF.

  • As the world’s largest book fair (277,000 visitors), this is still THE place to be to announce new business deals and develop international partnerships.
  • The Education Hot Spot stage offered many presentations on the state of the market, including one from the PreK-12 Learning Group. In particular, a discussion from LearningMate offered interesting insights into global teaching and learning issues.
  • Education Table Talk, hosted by Michael Jay of Educational Systemics, broadcast a show from the Fair floor, examining publishers' challenges worldwide.
  • Once again The Classroom of the Future in Hall 4.2 brought students and publishers together. This year’s theme was Lighthouse for Ideas. Featured topics included robotics, coding, and next generation storytelling.

Mark your calendar: Frankfurt Book Fair 2017 runs October 11- 15. The guest of honor country will be France.
