OREGON AND TEXAS STUDENTS WIN $100,000 SCHOLARSHIP PRIZES IN 2016 SIEMENS COMPETITION IN MATH, SCIENCE, & TECHNOLOGY

Three high school students, one from Portland, OR, and a team from Richardson, TX, were awarded grand prizes of $100,000 scholarships for their significant accomplishments in scientific research in the 17th annual Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology. The Competition is the nation's premier science research competition for high school students and seeks to promote excellence by encouraging students to undertake individual or team research projects.

myON Named a “Readers’ Choice Top 100 Product” by District Administration Readers

myON, leading provider of personalized literacy solutions, has been recognized for making a positive difference in education by K12 leaders who named it to District Administration magazine’s “Readers’ Choice Top 100 Products for 2016.” The winners were compiled from 1,500-plus nominations from the magazine’s readers over the past year. Vernier Software & Technology Accepting Applications for its 2017 Engineering Contest

Vernier Software & Technology is accepting applications for its 2017 Engineering Contest. The contest recognizes science and STEM teachers for their creative uses of Vernier sensors to teach students engineering concepts and practices. Two winning teachers—one middle school teacher and one high school teacher—will each receive prizes valued at $5,500. Applications for the contest are due by February 15, 2017, and winners will be announced in March on the Vernier website and Facebook page.

The NEA Foundation Funds Girls Thinking Global’s New Data Visualization Tool  

Just in time for International Education Week, and with the support of a grant from The NEA Foundation, Girls Thinking Global (GTG) has launched its GTG Collaborative Visualization Tool, an online community of practice. The GTG Visualization Tool is an interactive global data mapping of hundreds of organizations that support the education, health, well-being, and success of young women and girls globally. Users can select a country or service area and see a list of organizations serving that geographic location, as well as the services they provide and their websites. Currently, the Visualization Tool includes information for 286 organizations.

edWeb.net Partners with Generation Global to Sponsor Professional Learning Community

Generation Global, an education non-profit created for students ages 12-17, has partnered with edWeb to become the sponsor of a free professional learning community (PLC) on edWeb.net. The non-profit recently announced its relaunch into the U.S. as Generation Global, an initiative of the Tony Blair Faith Foundation.

Kids Choose Next U.S. President in PebbleGo Vote Mock Election

‘Read to the Final Four’ Literacy Tournament Tips off Across Arizona

With the help of the myON personalized literacy environmentthird-graders across Arizona will compete in NCAA Team Works Read to the Final Four, a tournament-style reading competition that will crown a literacy champion on March 31, the day before the national men's basketball semifinals.
