AAP StatShot Annual tracks a three-year trend line of book sales by publisher revenue and units with a focus on category and format sales. Categories include adult fiction/Non-Fiction, Children & Young Adult Fiction/Non fiction; Religious presses, professional: PreK-12; Higher Education, University Presses. Formats include Hardback, paperback, mass market, textbooks downloadable audio, e-book wholesale and subscriptions.

StatShot Annual also provides a brief summary of how category and format sales perform in certain channels including retailers (physical and online); intermediaries, direct to consumer, institutional and other sales.

Through a series of stakeholder interviews, StatShot Annual is also accompanied by a narrative editorial report providing industry analysis and commentary supplied by key industry professionals and publishing industry experts.

StatShot Monthly

AAP StatShot Monthly (for both PreK-12 & Consumer Markets) provides the most frequent and up-to-date data by format and category in revenue on a monthly basis. It exclusively includes only category and format data tracked by revenue. Data provides aggregated revenue only, in both gross and net sales, on a month-to-month and year-to-date basis.

All data is submitted privately and directly to Management Practice, Inc., AAP’s third party confidential statistical provider.

PreK-12 Education Report

AAP PreK-12 Annual Statistical report provides aggregate revenue sales and operating data from the industry’s leading educational publishers and developers of instructional materials. Three year history of net sales are provided by print and electronic product categories. Net sales of instructional materials are provided by grade level (PreK-6 and 6-12), geography and subject, including Reading, Science, Mathematics, Vocational, and Social Studies. Data is are tracked across both open territory and adoption states across a three year period. Three year past trending is provided along with basic data on copyrighted material back sales.

Higher Education Report

The AAP Higher Education Report includes gross and net revenue and returns of all college products produced by the market’s largest higher education content stakeholders. Only actual aggregated data is supplied and produced. Data includes a year-to-year comparative of print only (standalone core text, custom); non print (CD-rom, e-books, online courses, homework management systems); and bundles. Unit sales are not tracked.

AAP Journals Report

The AAP Journals Report includes sales and units of professional and scholarly journals by both paid and open access, as well as advertising, subscription, single article, and reprint revenue sales of approximately 50 participating journals publishers.

AAP Trade Exports Report

The AAP Trade Exports Report tracks English language sales of U.S. book content sold abroad in both digital and print formats in both net revenue and units. Territories covered include Africa, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, Canada, Caribbean, Europe, India, Latin America, Middle East, UK and Ireland, Asia/Latin America. Limited by country growth trends are also supplied.
