AAP Appreciates the Re-Introduction of the CODE Act
The Association of American Publishers commends Representative Chu (D-CA) and Representative Marino (R-PA) for reintroducing the Copyright Office for the Digital Economy (CODE) Act in the 115th Congress. AAP notes the growing bipartisan interest in equipping the U.S. Copyright Office with the appropriate authority and tools to realize the full potential of copyright and creativity in the digital age. AAP recently submitted comments on the recent proposal from Representative Conyers (D-MI) and Representative Goodlatte (R-VA) to modernize the Copyright Office, including updating the appointment and portfolio of the Register of Copyrights.
We are ready to work with Members of Congress and stakeholders from all backgrounds on legislative solutions to the current challenges facing the Copyright Office. We want to ensure that this critical agency can serve the creative community and the American public efficiently and effectively in an era where the rights, remedies, exceptions, and practices of copyright law are increasingly relevant to day-to-day life.
