AAP Sponsors Three New Events for BookExpo 2018: Please Join Us

AAP presents State of the Industry: Publishing and Copyright Policy on Wednesday, May 30 at 10:15 am in room 1E12 featuring the CEOs of the Copyright Alliance and Authors Guild, as well as AAP’s President & CEO Maria A. Pallante. It will be moderated by Hillel Italie of the Associated Press. This heavyweight team will explore the equities of copyright law as they relate to authors, publishers, and other aspects of the public interest, from the promise of global digital commerce to the evolving legal landscape in the courts and on Capitol Hill.

AAP presents the Leadership Roundtable: Publishers on Publishing featuring CEOs Markus Dohle (Penguin Random House), Carolyn Reidy (Simon & Schuster), and John Sargent (Macmillan), and will be the opening keynote for the trade show floor on Thursday, May 31 at 9:45 am at the Downtown Stage. Together, these leaders will reflect on industry trends, market highlights, and the power and responsibilities of publishers as global, corporate citizens. This panel will be moderated by AAP’s CEO Maria A. Pallante.

AAP and the Motion Picture Association of American (MPAA) present an exciting book-to-film panel, Book to Film: The Cycle of Creativity Friday, June 1, 2018 at 12:30 pm in room 1E10. The panel highlighting our members Disney, Macmillan and HarperCollins, and includes Catherine Hand, producer of A Wrinkle in Time; Angie Thomas, author of The Hate U Give, John Gibson from MPAA, and Darin Keesler from Picador, speaking from a variety of perspectives and experiences from the book-to-film adaption process. This panel will be moderated by AAP’s VP, Communications, Susanna Hinds.

These events include panelists from AAP members, copyright-focused organizations that align with AAP’s mission and creative industry professionals making an impact in their fields. Organizations represented include the Authors Guild, Copyright Alliance, Disney, Harper Collins, Macmillan, the Motion Picture Association of America, Penguin Random House, and Simon & Schuster.
