AAP Thanks Senate Judiciary Committee for Passing Marrakesh Treaty Implementation Act Unanimously

Earlier today, the Marrakesh Treaty Implementation Act (S.2559) was unanimously reported by the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, with its carefully negotiated text intact. It’s next expected to go to the Senate floor for a vote and will then need to be approved in the House. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee, which held a hearing on the Treaty last month, is expected to act soon to send the Treaty itself to the full Senate for ratification.

AAP would like to express our gratitude to the bill’s cosponsors, a solidly bipartisan group in the U.S. Senate led by Senators Chuck Grassley, Bob Corker, Dianne Feinstein, Bob Menendez, Orrin Hatch, Patrick Leahy and Kamala Harris.

“AAP has been working for many years on this important legislation to help facilitate access to published works for persons who are blind, visually impaired or otherwise print disabled and we’re pleased with the speedy progress of the legislation in the U.S. Senate,” said Maria A. Pallante, President and CEO, Association of American Publishers.
